DEAR DIARY
(this edition's post by singer/guitarist Antje)

June 18, 2008

Dear Diary:

I wanted to write a quick post about our weekend in Nebraska. One of our shows: the Testicle Festival and it was awesome! TJ (the owner Ron’s son) fed us bull “fries” and, really, they were ~ ~

CORRAL CORNER
where it's all about the fans

This month's Corral Corner is dedicated to July’s fan focus: Chase Williams of Rockford, IL. He came to see TIN HORSE headline at the Young at Heart Festival in Loves Park, IL. The way he won over the band’s hearts: FOOD.

For the band, summertime means festival time: lots of outdoor fun, families, friends, food, and furry animals won at game booths. Unfortunately, the band doesn’t always have enough time to take in all the wonders they’d like to at these festivals. So on the night of the Young at Heart Festival, tempted by all the blinking food stand signs, Andra stopped fiddling for a moment and asked the crowd, “Has anyone tried the funnel cake? Is it any good?”

Moments later, during a song, a young man appeared at the stage with a plate full of funnel cake! The cake made its way across the stage to each band member, and at one point, a game of “keep away” ensued. The plate ended up on Caroline’s keyboard, but after the set was done, it mysteriously disappeared. It was peculiar because there was quite a bit of grease and powdered sugar on Andra’s fiddle case.

After the show, the band had the pleasure of meeting the young supplier of funnel cake, Chase, and his Aunt Jill. He was just as nice in person as he was from in front of the stage.

The next morning we received a lovely thank you note from Chase’s mother that said: "I would like to say THANK YOU for making my son so happy. Last night my son Chase Williams was at the Young At Heart with his Aunty Jill. He’s the young man that brought you the funnel cake. He was so excited about last night he had a smile on his face that I've never seen before. He is a very shy young man. He loves music & he loves to dance. So once again would just like to say thanks for every moment of happiness the Tin Horse gave him as a mother you ladies did a beautiful thing."

The band would like to thank Chase for the funnel cake and for befriending them on myspace.

THE CHICAGO DAILY HERALD PROCLAIMS:
TIN HORSE SHOWS JUST HOW FUN COUNTRY MUSIC CAN BE

The “kindred sisters” of Tin Horse sat down to chat with Lisa Balde of The Chicago Daily Herald on June 27th. “They talk in a chorus of laughter and sentence-finishing, piqued by the kind of local success and shared experiences that seal a band of relationships for life” says Balde. Two months into the heart of their Horses Gone Wild tour, the band has spent more time together on the bus, in the studio or lighting up the stage, than apart. And it shows!

“The result is large crowds turning out for the band's summer tour [and] plans for a new album” says Balde. While Tin Horse has been finishing work on their EP – “Something Stronger” (due out mid-summer), the girls are now writing material for a full length album due out later this year. Both the EP and full length album showcase songs which pull on the common thread Andra, Antje and Caroline share. “The refrain of Tin Horse's recently recorded "Something Stronger" twangs, "Your love is like watered-down whiskey, glass-half-empty, never satisfies me, and it's wearing off - and I need something stronger." ‘It's (about) a love that's really just not doing it for you, and we've all, unfortunately, had that,’ Andra says.”

Tin Horse hits the road again this weekend for what’s sure to be a foot stomping, rebel rousing 4th of July weekend, then it’s back to the recording studio to finish mixing their EP. Keep your eyes on the website for updates!
